Kajukenbo
is a dynamic
self-defense system that combines the kicks of Karate (KA), the throws of Judo (JU)
/ the submissions of Jiu-Jitsu (JU), the
"vital point attacks" of Kenpo (KEN), and the hands of Boxing (BO). First formed in 1947, It is considered the original mixed martial art.
The founders of Kajukenbo realized that many martial art styles were
missing efficiency in regards to modern self-defense
do to the fact that they
put all of their focus
on merely one aspect of
a fight; so they formed Kajukenbo as a complete, no holds barred art
in order to give its practitioner the tools necessary for real life
dynamic nature of self-defense situations.
It is an art that addresses self-defense from all angles including
restrain and control
techniques, standing and striking, going to the ground, multiple attackers, and attacks involving modern weapons.
There are
traditional ethical
aspects of the art,
emphasizing respect,
self-discipline,
integrity, and goal
setting; but because
the foundation of
Kajukenbo is
effectiveness, it is
an art that
continues to evolve
and adapt in order
to remain effective.
Our branch of
Kajukenbo does not
practice flashy
moves, deep stances,
or traditional
forms- our focus is
on technical
application.
